I also spent 3 years attached to an online fraud unit and saw all kinds of happenings. I thought I’d use this space to discuss computer forensics, electronic discovery, and online fraud.
Online fraud posts will (hopefully) be on a specific topic, with examples, and helpful tips on how not to get scammed, but here are the best tips for starters:
- No-one is going to give you money for free.
- Never send money to a person you haven’t met in a country you’ve never visited.
- If it looks too good to be true…..
- Get antivirus and firewall software. They won’t protect you against everything, but it’s the internet’s equivalent of wearing a seatbelt.
