We may elect to waive or reduce travel costs to other areas, particularly for larger engagements. There is a fee for storage for evidentiary data (forensic images and case files) depending on size. There is an 8 hour retainer, with a minimum of 4 hours billed. Further discounts are offered for Law Enforcement and other government agencies (including Public Defenders). Where government engagements are local, we may also waive the retainer. We may offer pro-bono services where it is urgent and pertains to the safety of a minor. For details of non-forensic services, see our Services page. Q. Why are your rates so low? A. The Mid South is a low cost area, and during his prior experience of 3 years of managing a forensic laboratory on a very low government budget, Mr Patrick has learned to restrain his operating expenses and get the most benefit from the equipment. Additionally, our forensic laboratory is in a very modest space. Our managerial experience enables us to gain considerable cost savings which are passed on to our clients. Q. XYZ company also offers low rates, why should we use Patrick Computer Forensics? A. Make sure you aren't comparing apples with oranges. Mr Patrick has over 9 years experience in Computer Forensics, and has worked over 300 cases. When you are dealing with some firms, your work may be done by an associate with limited experience. Ensure you check the experience of your examiner, and not just their company. You may be dealing with someone who performs forensics "on the side" and may only have worked a few dozen cases. Mr Patrick is also a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner. This is the most intenstive certification in the industry, and can take over 10 months to complete, and almost half the students fail to pass the course. For more information about Mr Patrick's experience to help you compare, see our About page. * Some former and existing clients had previously been given a $25/hour discount from our normal rates. If this applies to you, then you will see your rates drop by an additional $25/hour on new cases, not by $50. |
